Calming my Soul

Last night I forgot about the laundry, I ignored the dishes and the floors remained unswept. Instead, I held Shey close, smelling in his baby scent that I know will fade soon, listening to his little grunts that are already turning into sounds and holding his tiny hands that before I know it will be larger than mine. The TV was off, Peyton was in his playroom and Larry in our bedroom, the house was almost quiet and for the time peaceful.

We rocked and rocked until his eyes were heavy and his breathing was even. For a moment, we were the only two in the world.
